LANDIS, N.C. -- The former police chief in the Rowan County town of Landis is expected to be sentenced Tuesday at the federal courthouse in Greensboro.
Charles Childers, 51, pleaded guilty to federal child pornography charges last year.
Officers arrested Childers after undercover agents said they found him trying to solicit sex from 13- and 14-year-old girls through the Internet.
Court documents showed he sent pornographic pictures, including video of himself, over the Internet, and sometimes used the police station's computer.
He faces up to 45 years in prison.
{The first thing I noticed about this story is how short it is.
Next I could not help but notice it was not on any of the national Media amongst the Natalie Halloway fluff of the day.
Why do stories like this continue to escape the attention of the mainstream media?
I think the answer lies in the fact that you can’t save your face and your ass at the same time.Police Chief's are not supposed to commit sex offences.
Sex offender's all wear trench coats, black hats and hang around playgrounds and bus stops with bags of candy. These stories just don’t fit the mold even though they happen in America EVERY DAY.Fair and balanced?
I have yet to find ANY of the mainstream media companies that fit that description. Bleeds it leads? Sadly still the norm especially if you can attach "sex offender" "Child Molester" or "child porn" to the story.
Unless of course your a celebrity a cop a judge a congressman Jessica Lunsfords brother or someone else that does not fit the mold and challenges the party line. This injustice cannot be hidden forever not the statistics and facts that are now in.}
